The Indian Leather Products Association (ILPA), established in 1987, is a premier representative body of manufacturers and exporters of leather and leather products across the country with head office in Kolkata a Regional Office in Chennai.
ILPA works actively worked to bring together manufacturer–exporters and merchant-exporters of leather products of India on a common platform to stimulate growth and development of the leather sector.
It strives to develop and maintain a reciprocal relationship with professional bodies, importers associations and the Chambers of Commerce abroad in order to support and promote export of leather products.
It takes an active step forward for its members by regularly undertaking market surveys/studies in foreign countries, organizing and participating in Trade Fairs / Exhibitions, Workshops / Seminars, Buyer Seller Meets – both domestically and internationally.
ILPA has been closely involved in the setting up of the Calcutta Leather Complex, which is the largest project of its kind in the world.
A 60-acre Leather Goods Park - the first of its kind in the country, known as the ILPA Leather Goods Park - has been created in the Complex. More than 80 manufacturer/exporters are in the process of setting up state of the art production facilities in the park.
A Design Studio with a Common Facility Centre has been set up in the Complex and is exclusively owned and managed by the Association.
Another socially and economically relevant project in manpower training activities of ILPA has been the setting up of the ILPA Tech School in collaboration with the West Bengal Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBIIDC).
The eastern region leather sector hopes to make a major contribution to the target of USD 15 billion set for 2020 thereby fulfilling national & state priorities and increasing its share as a major foreign exchange earning sector.
